Niger Tornadoes today (Thursday) qualified for the 2019 Aiteo Cup final after a 2-1 victory over Rivers United in the sémifinal decided at the Agege stadium, Lagos, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

One goal each from Eric Frimpong in the 16th minute and Dosso Saib in the 44th minute was all the Ikon Allah Boys needed to outscore the favourite, Rivers United whose lone goal came from the boot of Kehinde Samson Adedipe in the 11th minute.

Tornadoes who were relegated to the Nigeria second tier league from the 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League is a step toward picking a continental ticket.

The Mohammed Bala-led side are in the Aiteo Cup final two times in three years and may pick the remaining one CAF Confederation Cup tickets if they are to play against Kano Pillars in the final.

Bala Mohammed who was unveiled penultimate week as the manager of Niger Tornadoes led the team to the Cup final in 2017.
