2019 Handball League: 15 Teams To Contest For Title in Abuja

No fewer than 15 clubs will fight for honours in the 2019 Men and Women National Volleyball Premier League slated for Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The second phase of the league which is scheduled to hold in the indoor sports hall, Moshood Abiola Stadium, kicks off from 21st November, 2019.

In a statement made available to BSNSports.com.ng by the Chairman Media, National League Management Committee, Mr Kehinde Lamidi which reads;

"All is now set for the 2019 National volleyball premier league scheduled to hold in the indoor sports hall of Moshood Abiola stadium, Abuja as from 21st of November to 1st of December, 2019."

"15 men and women volleyball clubs that participated in the first phase in Asaba, Delta state will be slugging it out in a round robin format to determine the 2019 winners." The statement reads in part.

7. Famous Spikers

Women's Volleyball Group

4. Kada Emeralds
5. Delta Queens
6. Benue Queens

At the end of the first phase in Asaba,
in the men's category, Nigeria Customs Service are topping the table with 19 points in the first phase and followed closely are the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) with 18 points, the Police Super Force are third with 14 points while Nigeria Immigration Services finished 4th with 13 points.

Kano Pillars volleyball club finished 5th with 11pts, Plateau state volleyball club garnered 3pts, Famous Spikers-2pts and UCEM with a point to place 6th, 7th and 8th positions in the last phase in Asaba, Delta state.

In the women category, Civil Defence are topping the league with 17 points, followed by Nigeria Customs Service with 16 points, Army Spikers finished third with 11pts,Nigeria immigration service 4th with 10 points, Kada Emeralds-6 points, Delta Queens- 3 points and Benue Queens 0 point to finish 5th, 6th and 7th respectively.

The technical chairman of the federation, Martin Melandi told sport journalists in Lagos that all machineries have been put in place to ensure a better and bigger outing of the 2019 National volleyball premiere League finals in Abuja.

The president of the Nigeria volleyball federation, Eng. Musa Nimrod while speaking with the sports journalists in Abuja promised a classical and CAVB standard tournament disclosing that for the very first time,all the matches played will be streamed live via all the social platforms of the federation.

"This action will further promote the game, allow those fans and stakeholders all over the world to enjoy the matches at the comfort of their homes and to make would be sponsors to have access to the products they are willing to sponsor" Nimrod explains.

Clubs are expected to arrive Abuja on Thursday 21st of November, technical meeting holds on friday 22nd while tournament commences Saturday, 23rd to 30th Nov 2019.
