2019 Taekwondo Int'l Open: Team Nigeria Wins 3 Gold, Top Medals Table

Team Nigeria on Friday won three gold medals on Day 1 of the ongoing Nigeria International Open in Abuja.
2014 Commonwealth gold medallist, Josephine Esuku and Africa silver medallist, Chinazum Nwosu won gold in the women’s -46kg and -53kg respectively.
National champion, Sunday Onofe won gold for the country’s national team in the men’s -87kg.
Benin Republic’s Boni Biso won gold after beating Abdulfathi Sanusi 23-15 in the men’s -58kg while Romaric Kiki settled for silver losing to Nigeria’s Sunday Onofe 14-7 in the men’s -87kg.
Abdullateef Olawale shocked the crowd, beating Saudi Arabia’s Saddat Biso to win gold in the men’s -54kg for Team Lagos while Shukurat Omobisola and Mariam Adegoke won bronze medals in the women’s -46kg and -53kg.
Cote d’Ivoire won one gold medal, while Niger Republic garnered two silver and four bronze medals to place third and fourth on the medals table.
The Ghanaian national team won one silver and two bronze while Saudi Arabia and Q-MADI had one silver apiece.
Legendary Martial Arts, Ondo state, Kebbi and Kano state have one bronze medal.
