The 2020 Aiteo (Federation) Cup may be played on abridge version as revealed by the Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Pinnick, though, was not confident whether the 2020 Aiteo Cup will be held following the spread of the deadly coronavirus that is rampaging the world.

He added that the sponsor (Aiteo Group) will be the one to determine whether the oldest competition in Nigeria will still hold or will be played on abridge format when both parties (NFF and Aiteo) meet for discussion on the 2020 Aiteo Cup competition.

"They (Aiteo Group) can come up with the condition and say, even if it is going to be an abridged version this is the amount we are going to pay. We have to sit down and renegotiate and that's if it is going to hold.

"If you notice, we ought to have started the Federation Cup (Aiteo Cup) but we don't know if that can be possible again this year because we dont know when this will end. Even if it going to be an abridged version we are going to sit with our sponsors and discuss.

"So, coronavirus is taking a toll on global sports. So, after all these we should be able to sit down and take a cue from FIFA and federal government plans."

Kano Pillars defeated Niger Tornadoes on penalties to emerge champions of the 2019 edition of the competition.
