2020 NSF: Delta state invests heavily in athletes says Achakpo By Admin The Special Assistant Technical to the Executive Chairman Delta state Commission, Victor Achakpo has attributed the success recorded at the 2020 National Sports Festival to proper training programs and investing in athletes. Achakpo told newsmen that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has always invested heavily in sports and in turn the state is reaping the dividends. He said Delta state has the potential of producing athletes in all the sports and they can represent the country at various International tournaments. He said, "Delta state will continue to dominate the National Sports Festival because we take sports as our number one priority. In Delta state, we invest heavily in grassroots programs which churns out athletes yearly and also invest in our already established athletes like sending them for sporting events outside the country. "All these success you are seeing is made possible by the efforts of the sports loving Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and the executive chairman of the Commission who ensure that sportsmen and women are treated like kings and queens that they are. "If you look at all the National Sports Federations in the country, you will see that Delta state has a large amount of athletes, it is not a magic but hard work from persons saddled with the responsibilities of producing standard athletes which are the coaches". Achakpo revealed that Delta state will hold one of the best National Sports Festival in the history of the country.
