2020 Olympics: Minister of Sports Sets To Investigate Super Falcons Failure

The minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare has said the Super Falcons failure to progress in their quest to pick the 2020 Olympic ticket has offered an opportunity for the ministry to dig deep in what led to the ouster, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Super Falcons on Monday crashed out of the race to pick the sole Olympic ticket for Africa as the Ivory Coast women national team ended the African champion's hope of progressing after a 1-1 aggregate draw.

The Ivorians qualified on goal aggregate after a 0-0 draw in Abidjan last Thursday.

The minister, however, praised the efforts of the players and the technical crew but insisted that the ministry will probe what led to the failure of nine-time African champions.

Super Falcons have failed to qualified for the three consecutive Olympic Games, in 2012, 2016 and 2020. A team that have never failed in picking world cup ticket.

Recall that the minister took steps in resolving the untimely 'resignation' of Thomas Dennerby but the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, named Dernnerby replacement as Christopher Danjuma emerged Super Falcons interim coach.

On resuming duty, Danjuma named Asisat Oshoala as new captain to replace Desire Oparanozie, the latter was not also invited to the national team.
