By Our Reporter
Nigeria will face Australia in the men's basketball group B opener of the Tokyo Olympics 2021. The match will be played by 4:15 am on Sunday at the Saitama super arena, Tokyo.
The two teams faced each other in the Commonwealth Games in which Australia defeated Nigeria 97–55.
Australia are in good form heading towards this game after a run of victories over Argentina and USA in Las Vegas few days ago. The Aussies will be entering into the Olympics as the 3rd best team in FIBA rankings (behind USA and Spain).
D'Tigers on the other hand have improved a lot especially in training sessions since their last encounter with the Aussies, they will seek to turn the tides against their opponents with a victory.
Australia will be considered as favorites in this game due to their ranking, squad depth and style of play compared to D'Tigers but a twist of events may likely occur due to the quality possessed by this Nigerian team.
D'Tigers will hope to commence their quest to win a medal with a win and top the group B which also includes Italy and Germany.
