To the surprise of everyone, the US born star secured qualification ticket on Tuesday through non-automatic qualifying spot.
While reacting via his social media handle, Enekwechi said he is happy and also a great privilege to have such huge opportunity.
“It’s a big honour, I call it the PhD of athletics. It takes 10 years to earn it. So, I’ve earned it, I did it the right way and I made the final in my first attempt. I think it’s a great experience in that way."
"I was happy I made the final and I get to compete again. People come here and compete one time, but I get to compete twice,” he said.
Enekwechi was ranked among the top 12 before the Olympics in Tokyo.
