  2020 World Cup: Kenyan, Ethiopian, Congo Referees Listed As Nigerians Miss Out By Sampson Adedeji The hope of Nigeria referee having representative at the 2022 FIFA World Cup has finally become an illusion as none of them was selected by World soccer governing body for pre-selection, BSNSports.com.ng reports. FIFA on Thursday announced the name of African referees that has been pre-selected for the football biggest competition in the World. Apart from Nigeria referee, another biggest omission was Gambia's Papa Malick Gassama. Egypt's Omar Mohammed led the pack alongside Mustapha Ghorhal (Algeria), Reduone Jiyed (Morocco), Jean Jaques Ndala Ngambo (DR Congo), Maguette Ndiaye (Senegal) and Bamlat Tessema Weysa (Ethiopia). The selected referee are expected to attend FIFA various training that has been set out by the body for the selected referees across the world . FIFA is expected the final selection of the match officials in the summer of 2022 as the competition is slated for winter due to the weather conditions of the host country.
