2021 AFCON qualifier: Super Eagles depart for Lesotho today

By Sampson Adedeji

As against the initial plan slated for Friday night, Nigeria's Super Eagles will now depart for Maseru for the match day 2 of the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Crocodile of Lesotho, BSNSports.com.ng understand.

According to report, the Nigeria side was expected to travel on Friday night but the arrangement changed due to the size of air craft.

The Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Melvin Pinnick confirmed the change in the travel plan.

"We had issues as regards the size of aircraft that was fit enough to land on the airstrip in Maseru.

“The initial aircraft we got from a certain airline operator was big, so we had to get another one. But all of that have now been sorted out.

“However we don’t want to fall victim of the airliner not having a landing permit as the Lesotho Aviation Authority closes its airspace at 7pm, so no flight is allowed to land anything past the hour.” Pinnick said.

Nigeria defeated Squirrels of Benin 2-1 in the first match while Lesotho held Serria Leone to a 1-1 draw in Freetown.
