2021 AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles Observe First Training In Darkness By Niyi Busari The Nigerian Super Eagles on Friday night had their first training session without floodlights on at the Charles de Gualle Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The floodlights  on the training pitch were switched off before their arrival from hotel. The hosts, Benin Republic showed a glimpse of hostile reception possibly a strategy to play their way to picking the three points on Saturday. Though, the two countries could qualify even before kicking a ball on Saturday if the match-day 5 encounter between Lesotho and Sierra Leone ended in barren draw. The match comes up before Benin Republic versus Nigeria game. The Super Eagles players were made to train in darkness as the lights of the main bowl of the stadium were switched off. Yet, the outer perimeters of the stadium had lights. Meanwhile, the light was switched on few minutes after completion of their training session. The three-time Africa champions are topping group L with eight points closely followed by the hosts who have 7 points from four games. The 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier game kicks off 5pm Nigerian time.
