2021 National Youth Games: Enugu and Gombe Fined N2.5m Each Enugu and Gombe states will have to cough out Five million naira (#5m) as payment for their failure to show up for the 6th National Youth Games in Ilorin, BSN sports.com.ng can report. This is made known by the Acting Director Grassroots Sports Development, Bode Durotoye while addressing the media on Monday at the media center stating that there was an agreement on penalty among the participating states and the Ministry of Sports ahead of the game. "Each state that fail to show up will pay the sum of N2.5m as penalty for not participating without consulting the organisers. "35 states are here. Only two states; Gombe and Enugu did not participate and before they can participate in the next edition, the fine must be paid. He added. He stated that 3,470 persons which includes the athletes, officials, coaches and media were officially registered for the 2021 National Youth Games. He insisted that despite the controversies surrounding the hosting of this year's edition, there was synergy between the Main Organizing Committee and the Local Organizing Committee before and during the annual championship. Recall that participating states who were at the venue on 10th October, 2021 could not get accomodation because the University of Ilorin the venue of the competition was in session.
