2021 NSF: Hope Rises For Athletes As FG Give Financial Support To Edo State By Editor Hope rises for athletes who hoped to participate in the forthcoming National Sports Festival as Federal Government is ready to assist Edo State government with cash. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare made this known on Saturday while speaking at the just concluded 2021 Admiral Porbeni Boat Race in Abuja. Edo state Deputy Governor and Chairman Local Organising Committee, Philip Shuaibu had said that the state needs financial assistance from the government so as to hold the February 14 Sports Festival. The state government said Covid-19 has taken a toll on the finances of various states and countries across the globe and Edo state is not left out. "If the Federal Government, however, in its wisdom, decides to provide funding for the Games, we will be too willing to host the country. Canceling the game is not the solution to this issue. Beyond the game itself, there is Tokyo Olympics to consider. We have to sit down and look at all these issues critically before reaching a final decision.
