2022 Africa Youth Games: Again, Disgraceful Outing Awaits Nigeria Football National Team

Late preparations may spell doom for Nigeria as the country's representative, the Future Eagles of Nigeria are yet to begin camping less than 36 days to the games in Egypt. 

According to our findings, the newly appointed Head coach of the Future Eagles of Nigeria (U-15 male football national team) Charles Bassey had written and submitted his programs to the technical department of the NFF and the General Secretary months ago, however it was learnt that the efforts of the coach remains frustrated due to no response from the football authority. 

The Technical department of the NFF confirmed and acknowledged receiving the programs of the Future Eagles long ago but stated that no approval has been given yet to commence camping. 

Some football administrators like Kunle Soname of Remo Stars and Emmanuel Adukwu of Mees Palace Academy offered to host an all expenses paid, open camp for the Future Eagles of Nigeria several months ago but on numerous occasions this patriotic and philanthropic gestures has been turned down by the NFF. 

While NFF president, Amaju Pinnick is busy gallivanting all over the globe at the detriment of youth football development, it is safe to say that the African Youth Games is another disaster in waiting and as usual the football emperor will heap the blames on the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare. Recall that the NFF was quoted to have blamed the Ministry of Sports for non-payment of match bonuses and allowances when the Super Falcons players decided not train ahead of their Third Place match against Zambia.

Cairo was awarded the 2022 African Youth Games, making Egypt the third country to be awarded the 2022 event following relocations from Lesotho and Ethiopia.
