2022 African Athletics Championship: Tobi Amusan Clinches First Medal For Nigeria

It was all joy in the camp of Team Nigeria in the 2022 African Athletics Championship going on in Mauritius as Tobiloba Amusa clinched first medal for the country, BSNsports.com.ng gathered.
Competing in the final of the 100 meters Women's hurdle, Amusan overcame threat of Liberia’s Leea Ebony Morrison and Marione Fourie of South Africa to win a gold medal for Nigeria.
She finished at a time of 12.57s and dropped Morrison 12.77s and Fourie 12.93s to second and third position respectively.
Amusan first won the title four years ago at the 21st edition of the championship in Asaba and has now become the third Nigerian after Maria Usifo (1984 and 1985) and Glory Alozie (1996,1998 and 2000).
Meanwhile, Tima Godbless and Raymond Ekevwo came close to winning medals for Nigeria in the 100m, both finished 4th in their respective races. Godbless clocked 11.27s and Ekevwo 4th in 10.03s who missed out on Bronze to Henricho Bruinjties (10.01s).
