Nigeria's Ese Brume has expressed her excitement following her qualification for the final of the long jump event at the World Championship in Oregon, BSNsports.com.ng has gathered.

After having a shaky start in the event on Saturday, the reigning African record holder jumped a distance of 6.82m in her third and final attempt to secure an automatic ticket to the final.

She was happy about the feat when she was speaking to the press after the event.

"At first, I was nervous. But then I got myself composed and tried to do a better performance, the 2nd jump did not go well, but I didn't give up.

"It's not over until it's over. I had to compose myself and went for it and made it. You have to be physically prepared," she said.

Brume will now be seeking to become the first Nigerian to win two medals at two consecutive editions of the Championships.
