It was jubilation galore in the camp of Team Nigeria competing at World Championships in Oregon, United States, BSNsports.com.ng understands.

Since the start of the event, it has been ups and downs for Nigerian athletes but Tobi Amusan on Saturday evening lived up to expectations in the women's 100 meters hurdles heat.

The African champion was the star of the race, apart from finishing in first position, Amusan also broke her African record as she ran 12.40s.

Her previous record as the African fastest was 12.41s and the athlete was extremely happy as she was celebrated after the race.

"My coach is gonna be 'mad' cos I didn't know I was going that fast", she said.
