2022 NFF Elections: State FAs Asked To Submit Delegates Detailed Information of Elections By Niyi Busari The race of who becomes the next President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has begun as the Federation told the 36 States and FCT Football Association members to submit detailed information about their next elections. Most of the State Football Association elections were conducted in 2019 while new elections are expected to be conducted in 2023, however, NFF Elections hold next year. According to the letter sent to all 36 state and FCT FAs, the Nigeria football governing body told state FAs to forward names of Electorates, Congress Members, names of Electoral and Appeal Committees as well as date of each state Annual General Assembly. The letter with ref number: NFF/MAS/002/VOL-1 dated June 4 and signed by the Coordinator Member Association and Special Duties, Ali Abubakar Muhammed, reads; "We present to you the warm compliment of the president and the executive committee, management and staff of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF. "I am directed to inform that inline with the decision to compile a robust base for NFF Member Associations, to meet global best practices, and easy accessibility , you're hereby requested to provide to the NFF Secretariat with the following: "Names of the Electorates and Congress Members of each Association Names of each Football Association Electoral and Appeals Committees, Date of each state Annual General Assembly wherein the Electorate and Elections Appeal Committee would be constituted in line with the state FA Statutes." The letter added, "Copy of reviewed Statute which must be in conformity to FIFA, CAF and NFF Statutes. "Note that the above information must get to the NFF Secretariat within one week of the receipt of the letter." There are reports that the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick is plotting to remain in office for the third term after emerging the first NFF president to win election for two terms. Recently, Pinnick visited the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari where he presented jersey No 1 to the former Military Head of State. This visit is seen as him lobbying the presidency to support his third term ambition and may not be unconnected with the letter written to the State FAs. The letter according to stakeholder is a way to have the state Football Association members in his hand. Amaju Pinnick on his part had on several media said he will not re-contest if he wins the FIFA Council Member election, the election which he won. Meanwhile, feelers from the NFF indicated that Pinnick is nursing a third term ambition which he has not denied in the public.
