2023/24 NPFL Wrap Up: No Away Win As Week 2 Records 9 Home Victories

The 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, continued on Sunday with seven Matchday 2 games played across seven venues in the country, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Gombe United, Kwara United, Plateau United, Remo Stars and Lobi Stars all secured their first victory of the campaign.

In Gombe, Gombe United bounced back to winning ways with a vital 2-0 win over NPFL champions Enyimba FC, at the Pantami Stadium.

Goals from Chijioke Alaekwe, who scored in the 43 minutes, before Ahmed Jimoh doubled the lead 2-0, in the 90 minutes for the Mohmmed Babaganaru led side.

While in Kaduna, Niger Tornadoes secured a narrow 1-0 win over former Champions Rivers United, at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Zaria.

With the Hamza Abdulazeez led side returning to winning ways from their Matchday 1 defeat to Abia Warriors. As they earned a vital 1-0 win through Bashir Usman lone strike, who scored from the spot inside seven minutes to secured Tornadoes their first win over the Pride of Rivers for the first time in four years and also their first win against the former champions in three seasons.

In Ikenne, Remo Stars came back from behind to beat Rangers International 2-1, and earned their first win of the season, at the Remo Stars Stadium.

Kazeem Ogunleye scored to give the Flying Anteoples the lead inside eight minutes before Seun Ogunribide and Sikiru Alimi scored in the 35th and 53rd minutes to secured the maximum three points for the Daniel Ogunmodede led side.

Meanwhile, Plateau United returned to winning ways with a 1-0 vital home win over Heartland FC, at the New Jos Stadium.

Bernard Mundi delightful strike in the 12 minutes made the difference for the Mbwas Mangut led side, as they picked first win of the campaign in Jos.

Akwa United were held to a goalless draw by newly promoted side Sporting Lagos, in a Matchday 2 encounter, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

The Osho Fatai led side could not find a way to break down a tough sporting defence as they held on to secured a vital point on the road.

In Lafia, Lobi Stars secured a vital win in a five goals thriller over Sunshine Stars, in their newly adopted home ground, at the Lafia City Stadium.

Samuel Tiza scored a brace that helped the pride of Benue to picked all maximum three points and their first first of the season.
