2023 AFCON: "You Must Prove Your Worth" - Peter Rufai Tells Super Eagles Players

With three days to the start of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, former Nigerian goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has urged the Super Eagles players to prove their worth by winning the title in Cote D'Ivoire, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side arrived in Ivory Coast on Wednesday afternoon brimming with confidence ahead of the tournament.

While speaking to the Egypt news outlet, Btolat, Rufai said big performance and team spirit will play a major role in winning the competition.

"Performance is the most important thing in deciding the tournament, not the big names."

 "There must be a spirit in every team. This is what I must also say about Nigeria. 

There are distinguished players, but to rise to the podium you must prove your worth", he said.

Rufai was part of the victorious Super Eagles team at the 1994 AFCON in Tunisia.

Super Eagles are pitched along with the host, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea in group A. The African most galmorous football competition will commence on Saturday 13th January and ends 11th February, 2024.
