2023 AFCON: Ivory Coast Suffers Injury Set Back Ahead Super Eagles Tie

The preparation of the Nigeria's Super Eagles group opponent the Elephant of Cote D'Ivoire suffered a serious blow on Sunday after one of the team's key defenders Jean Evrad Kouassi was ruled out, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Kouassi was one of the regulars of the Orange team until November 2022 when the team coach Louis Gasset decided to do without his services due to poor form.

Kouassi made a sensational return to the team and he was among the provisional list of players released by the French gaffer.

The left-footed defender revealed his injury status on Sunday and ruled himself out of the competition.

Before sustaining the injury Kouassi has played 7 matches for his Chinese side JEK this season.
