2023 AFCON: Mali Wallop Nigeria's Group Opponent

It was a day to forget for Nigeria's Super Eagles group opponent Guinea Bissau in the upcoming African Cup of Nations as they were taught a bitter lesson by Mali, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Playing in Bamako against the Carthage Eagles, the Djurtus suffered a humiliating 6-2 late on Saturday night.

Niakite and Coulibaly gave the host a comfortable lead in under 15 minutes but Mama Balde halved the deficit in the 37th minute while Doumbia made 3-1 to Mali in the 40th minute.

Carlos Mane made it 3-2 to Guinea Bissau in the 42nd minute before Mali went on a rampage in the second half.

Dorgeles netted the 4th goal in the 68th minute before Falaye Sacko scored the 5th goal in the 75th minute while Dorgeles completed his brace in the 85th minute and ensured a comprehensive win for the host.

Guinea Bissau will face Ivory Coast in the opening game of the competition on the 13th of January.
