2023 AFCON: Super Eagles Begin 4th Title Chase Against Equatorial Guinea

Nigeria will begin its quest for a forth AFCON title against Equatorial Guinea, after the African soccer governing body released the official match schedule for the 2023 African Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The draw for the biennial tournament was held on Thursday in Abidjan with 24 teams placed in 6 groups of 4 teams each.

Nigeria's Super Eagles were handed one of the toughest opposition in the competition as they were placed in the same group as host Ivory Coast.

Group E also produced a difficult team with South Africa, Tunisia, Mali and Namibia competing for the 2 available slots.

According to the match schedule, the Super Eagles will face Ivory Coast in the second group game after their opening game against Equatorial Guinea.

The competition is slated to be held from January 13th to February 11th, 2024.
