2023 AFCON: This Will Be Repeat Of What Happened At FIFA U17 World Cup

The interim coach of the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire Emerson Fae has said the final against Nigeria will be a repeat of what happened at the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2001, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Fae was part of the France U17 team at the 2001 FIFA World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago where Nigeria's Golden Eaglets defeated France 2-1 in the opening group match but suffered a 3-0 defeat to the same opponent in the final.

Super Eagles defeated the Elephants by a lone goal in the second Group A match of the AFCON and both sides will clash again in the final on Sunday.

"This will be a revenge of what happened in the past the group.

"I remember as a member of the French youth team, I won the World Cup losing the opening match to Nigeria and then beating them in the final.

"Perhaps the is a sign and destiny", he said.
