2023 AFCON Fallout: Indomitable Lions Mascot Arrested At The Airport

Ngando Pickett, famous supporter and considered the mascot of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, was arrested at Douala International Airport upon his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

With his group of supporters, Ngando attracted attention in Ivory Coast by launching calls for help to finance his return to Cameroon.

“ We are waiting for your support to be able to take the plane and return to Yaoundé. Fecafoot has already returned.

We have been abandoned. We are stuck in Abidjan. We need 1,400,000 FCFA for return plane tickets. We are suffering in Abidjan, things are not going well,' the Cameroonian said in a message of distress.

Ultimately, his return would have been supported by an Ivorian mining company and by Patrice Evra, the former French international footballer. However, when he got off the plane on Sunday, he was immediately arrested. A police officer explained to Equinoxe Radio and Television.

“ He was on board an Air Ivoire flight that arrived in Douala around 2:24 a.m. We immediately arrested him and his colleagues", the officer stated.

Ngando himself confirmed his arrest and said

“ I was interviewed on the record. I find this to be completely normal. There were problems, some believe that, through my behaviour, I dishonoured Cameroon, I had to explain myself", he added.
