2023 AFCON Qualifier: "We Need To Be At Our Best To Beat Sao Tome & Principe" - Super Eagles Coach

Ahead of the matchday 2 of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier, Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has said that his boys will have to labour hard to earn maximum points against Sao Tome and Principle, BSNsports.com.ng report.

Hosts, Sao Tome will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways against Nigeria after they suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat to Guinea Bissau in their first match while Super Eagles will want to continue their impressive performance.

During a pre-match conference in Agadir on Sunday, the Portuguese tactician said they watching the video of the first game of Sao Tome showed they need to be at their best to beat their opponents.

"We need to be at our best to beat them. We have to show strong desire and determination.

“We don’t think about 1-0, 2-0 or 5-0 we want to win, we want to score, we want to play well and we don’t want to concede a goal.

“Sao Tome have good players in their team. We saw their last game, even though they lost, but didn’t do too badly.

 "We respect them. It’s good to respect your opponent in football,” he said.
