Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho was the hero on Sunday in Liberia as his final strike qualified Super Eagles for the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side took total control of the game from the blast of the whistle and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen continued his scoring prowess.

He put Nigeria ahead in the 19th minute and added the second goal few minutes later before Mustapha Bundu halved the deficit for the Leone Stars just before halftime.

The host Sierra Leone show a tremendous improvement in the second half and controlled the game.

Augustus Kargbo equalised for them towards the tail end of the encounter before substitute Iheanacho scored the winning goal and earned Super Eagles the qualifying ticket.

Guinea Bissau dropped to the second spot after Nigeria won but qualified for the biennial tournament for the 4th consecutive time.

The win means Nigeria topped group A with 12 point from five games while Guinea Bissau garnered 10 point from 5. Nigeria will host Sao Tome and Principe in the last group game at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
