2023 AFCON Qualifier: Injured Ekong Promises To Back Soon

Injured Nigeria's Super Eagles skipper William Troost-Ekong has promised to be back in the team in no distant future, BSNsports.com.ng understand


After sustaining ground injury, the Watford FC defender was replaced by CD Leganes player Kenneth Omeruo in the 82nd minute against Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.


Ekong has been present in the team since the appointment of Jose Peseiro as the head coach of the team but has to be replaced in the game played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.


The former Udinese player was happy with the team performance and the win and promised to be back in the team soon.


" First game & first win to set us off on the new AFCON 2023 campaign. Thanks for the messages. I will be back soon, ” the defender said. on his Twitter handle.


Ekong face the fitness race to be available for the team's next match against Sao Tome and Principle on Monday.
