2023 AFCON Ticket: Football Italia Celebrates Osimhen, Lookman, Chukwueze

Top Italian sports news source Football Italia has heaped praises on Super Eagles trio of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookaman and Samuel Chukwueze following their goal scoring form, as Nigeria confirmed its place as group winners following a dominant victory over Sao Tome and Principe in a 2023 AFCON qualifying game in Uyo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Football Italia published after the 6-0 win at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, three Serie A attackers were on the scoresheet for Nigeria in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday evening, with Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen bagging his first hattrick of the 2023-24 campaign.

Nigeria trumped Sao Tome, the second-smallest and second-least populous state in Africa by a margin of six goals to nil, extending their lead at the top of their qualifying group. 

Five of Nigeria’s six goals came from Serie A representatives, with Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman and recent Milan acquisition Samuel Chukwueze also getting on the scoresheet alongside the aforementioned Osimhen. 

It took the 2022-23 Serie A top scorer all of 13 minutes to open the scoring for his nation in Uyo, before converting a penalty after 69 minutes and adding a third exactly 10 minutes later. 

Osimhen’s international tally now stands at an impressive 20 goals from 26 caps. He has also bagged an emphatic tally of nine goals from his last three appearances for Nigeria. 

Lookman chipped in with Nigeria’s second goal of the night, finding the near post from the edge of the area following a gut-busting run from former Leicester City teammate Kelechi Iheanacho.

Chukwueze, who entered the fray as a second half substitute, rounded off a solid display just over five minutes from time, tucking home from six yards out to claim the fifth goal of his international career and the first since his move to Milan from Villarreal this summer.
