2023 CAF Awards: Osimhen Wrestles Salah, Hakimi For POTY Gong

red-hot Super Eagles talisman Victor Osimhen has made the final 3-man shortlist for the 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.

The continent apex football rulling body made the announcement of the final shortlist on its official Twitter handle (now X) on Thursday.

Osimhen will wrestle former winner Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi for the prestigious award.

Surprisingly, Terenga Lions captain and last year’s winner, Sadio Mane failed to make the final shortlist, despite finishing among the top 10 nominees.

Recall two days ago, the 24-year-old whi led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years last season, scoring 26 goals, two days ago won the Italian Serie A Player of the 2022/23 season gong at the AIC Oscar del Calcio Awards.

The Nigerian became the first African player to win 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚 𝘼 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙔𝙚𝙖𝙧 award.

Meanwhile, the winner will be revealed at the CAF Awards Gala on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, Marrakech, Morocco.
