2023 CHAN Qualifiers: Ghana Black Galaxies Have Match Fitness But We'll Shock Them - Yusuf
Sampson Adedeji
Head Coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles B team Salisu Yusuf has admitted once again that the Black Galaxies of Ghana are ahead of his team in terms of match fitness but insists that they are capable of beating them, BSNaports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian side had to come back from a goal down to play a 1-1 draw against the Nigeria Professional Football League runners-up Plateau United in a friendly match played on Tuesday in Abuja.
Salisu believe that coming back from conceding to get a result shows that the team has the character and capability to change any result.
"As you can see we played everybody in the game against Plateau United, this is one of the toughest opposition we've played and we are happy.
"Coming from behind shows that we have character and I think that is a plus for the team because most teams when they concede cannot come back.
"The development of this team is a bit slow simply because we did't have more games but I think we've been able to put something together to get a good result.
"In the first half, we didn't create much chances because we played with natural midfielders and in the second half we changed our pattern of play and we dominated the game.
"If you look at it statistically they (Ghana) are better than us in terms of match fitness because they've played some tough games but if we can put our tactics together we can get something.
"I have a little information about them, and how they play and we will try to counter them, that is why we are trying different style of play to see which one will be suitable for the game but it all depends on the game," he said.
Ghana will host the first leg of the qualifier on Sunday at Cape Coast Stadium while Nigeria will stage the second leg a week later.
