2023 NRA Elections: Sani Zubairu, Suleiman Omeiza Emerge President, General Secretary

The quadrennial Elective Conference of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) in Ilorin on Saturday produced Alhaji Sani Zubair and Sulaiman Omeiza as the new President and General Secretary of the association.
Sani Zuhair emerged president after defeating his challenger, Elder Daniel Olokor with 53 votes to none.
The Election which was witnessed by the 54 delegates from all the thirty six states of the federation including FCT and other major critical stakeholders was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere at the Bovina Hotel Views, Ilorin Kwara State Capital.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Sani solicited the support from all members to transform NRA as he commended delegates for their patients towards a hitch free transition.
He promised to sustain and improve on the achievements of the past leadership to justify the confidence repose in him towards accelerating the development of refereeing in the country.
“On behalf of the newly elected team, I want to assure you of our commitment, diligent and sincerity in carrying out our duties†he said.
Other elected officials of the National Executive Council were: Kelechi Mejuobi as National Deputy President who defeated David Egho 43 to 11 votes, Emmanuel Edekin Imiere as First vice President, Ibrahim Umar Fagge; second vice President, Dr Suleiman Omeiza Usman as Secretary General and Issa Muhammed as National Treasurer.
Comrade Jibrin Bancir who defeated Salman Fowomola with 43 votes to 11 to emerge as National Financial Secretary, Mohammed Odihil won the Deputy Financial Secretary, Serah Jumoke as National Training Officer, Barrister Innocent Amuzie National Welfare and Chukwudi Ejimotor as the new National Publicity Secretary.
Sanni Zubair is a retired FIFA Referee who also served as National Deputy President to the outgoing President Otunba Tade Azeez.
He is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new position as Nigerian Referees look forward to new dawn.
