2023 NWFL Cham'ship: Moje Queens Pick First Win Against Pelican Stars

Moje Queens of Kwara State clinched all the maximum points in a game for the first time this NWFL Championship season following a hard-fought 2-3 victory against Pelican Stars in Group A, bsnsports.com.ng reports. 

The five-goal thriller started off as early as the 10th minute when Adeusi Alaba put Pelican Stars ahead from the spot following a foul on Ogadinma Ndekani by the Moje defender inside the 18-yard box, as the atmosphere in Ikenne began to soar. 

Moje Queens responded 16 minutes later as Offor Chidera opened her account for the season with her first goal to restore parity in the game in the 26th minute. 

Four minutes into the second half, Ojo Patience recovered the lead for Pelican Stars in the 49th minute, as the Calabar-based outfit looked to earn their fourth win of the campaign, but Oyewole Toyin of Moje Queens had other plans as she bagged a 13-minute brace to change the tide. 

Moje had lost their first four games against Ekiti Queens, Dannaz, Kwara, and Dreamstar Ladies, as they languished in rock-bottom of the log, but a win against Pelican Stars at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne brightened the mood for the Erin-ile-based side.
