2023 Women Afrobasket: Rwanda Seek Fans Support To Dethrone D'Tigress

In preparation for the 2023 Women Afrobasketball Championship, host country Rwanda is seeking home support to dethrone the reigning champions D'Tigress of Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Kigali again becomes home of basketball as 12 countries get ready to tussle it out at the much-anticipated continental showpiece which dunks off on July 28 and runs until August 5 at the state-of-the-art BK Arena.

"We have been preparing for this since January. We have dedicated ourselves to continuous training, and we are fully prepared to leave everything on the court. 

"Our ultimate goal is to lift the championship at the expense of better countries and we are not alone in this ambition. "Every player on the team is ready to give their all and contribute to our country's victory," said Rwandan centre Assouma Uwizeye.

Rwanda's last appearance in Women's AfroBasket was in 2011.

Enyimba, Remo Face Tough Oppositions In CAF Champions League

The competition department of the Confederation of African Football ( CAF) released the draw for the preliminary round of the Champions League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Enyimba International won the Super 6 to represent the country and they were joined by Remo Stars who finished in second place.

Following the draw conducted, Enyimba will travel to North Africa to face Ahli Benghazi of Libya in the first preliminary round.

The Sky Blue boys will compete against the Ghana Premier League champions Medeama FC.

The first playoff round is scheduled to kick off in August 2023.
