With a few weeks to the start of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, Nigeria's Super Falcon forward Asisat Oshoala has expressed her excitement about the new player's appearance fees introduced by the World Soccer ruling body, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The football body announced a few days ago that each player that appeared for her country at World Cup starting from the group stage will get $30,000 and more if they surpass the stage.

While speaking to BBC Africa, the Barcelona Feminino star said the idea is a good development and it will motivate the players.

“I’m happy things are beginning to change and players don’t have to be dependent on their federations for income from World Cup appearances alone,” she told BBC Sport Africa.

“It’s really interesting to see such development because it will serve as a motivation to the players.”

Nigeria will face Canada in their opening group game before tackling Australia and the Republic of Ireland later in the competition.
