2023 Women's World Cup: Australia Coach Reveals Reason They Lost To Nigeria

The head coach of Australia team Tony Gustavsson has revealed the reason they lost to Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Super Falcons of Nigeria came back from a goal down to beat the Matildas 2-3 in a keenly contested encounter in Brisbane on Thursday.

During a post-match conference, the coach said he knew Nigeria will attack the pace and used the pace of Asisat Oshoala.

 â€œI’m actually not that disappointed about the performance, but I’m disappointed by the result,” he began the press conference.

“I said yesterday that I knew that they had some really tough attacking threats.

“Oshoala on the bench was maybe a surprise. I think they wanted to use the speed against our centre-backs in transition", he added.

Australia must beat Canada in the last game to be sure of qualifying for the knockout round.
