2023 Women's World Cup: Oshoala, Others Superb Form Gives Waldrum Selection Headaches

Randy Waldrum has expressed his delight with the match form of Asisat Oshoala and other Super Falcons for their various clubs but his fear is about starting the best eleven in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Nigeria is in group B after being drawn against Australia, Canada and the Republic of Ireland for the global women’s football showpiece that will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

In a post on Waldrum shared on Twitter by former Future Eagles Media Officer, Tobi Adepoju on Friday read.

"I think the current Super Falcons squad is loaded with so many talented players. There are a lot of players that have much to offer to the team and I am reasonably excited and hopeful.

"Asisat Oshoala is in great form and we all know what she is capable of. When you add players like Desire Oparanozie, who is also very much in the mix, as well as Ifeoma Onumonu, Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo, no doubt, we have so many effective weapons offensively.

"I am confident that we can build something special with this squad. We have also got some bright players like Rofiat Imuran coming in, in her twenties, same with Tosin Demehin, to go along with experienced players like Osinachi Ohale.

"Ashleigh Plumptre has also been a great addition for us at the back. I think I love the strength of the team; it's just about getting the best eleven to play on the pitch.”

The 9th edition of the Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place from July 20 to August 20, 2023.

It will be the first time two countries will host the competition, and the tournament will see the Women’s World Cup expanded from 24 to 32 teams.
