The defender of Portuguese Primera Liga club Boavista Chidozie Awaziem is already eyeing a spot in the Super Eagles team to the 2023 African Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Awaziem who featured prominently under the former coach Gernot Rohr is one of the players that has been out of the team since the coming of Jose Peseiro.

His ouster was due to injury and loss of form but the player is gradually building up again as his contribution has put Boavista 5th on the log.

While speaking on television program monitored by BSNSports correspondent, Awaziem made it clear that is working hard to get back into the team ahead of AFCON.

" I'm still available and interested in representing Nigeria. I'm working hard to get back into the Super Eagles team.

"Nigeria has a lot of good defenders and everyone is doing well for their clubs in Europe.

"But I'm trying to stay fit and waiting to be recalled," he said.

Awaziem was part of the Super Eagles team that won Bronze at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
