2024 NSF: Team FCT Hits 35 Medals as Yahaya Yahuze Strikes Gold in Wrestling

As the 22nd National Sports Festival progresses, Team FCT continues to raise the flag of the nation's capital high with an impressive medal haul — now totaling 35 medals, including 13 gold, 8 silver, and 14 bronze, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The standout performance of the week came from Yahaya Yahuze Mohammed, who clinched one gold medal in Wrestling, marking a major highlight in FCT’s medal chase. Mohammed’s dominant showing in the early hours of May 27 reinforced the team’s growing reputation at this year’s competition.

Also making waves was Cynthia Chiamaka Paul, who delivered an outstanding performance in Power Tumbling (Gymnastics), earning one silver and one bronze. The Golf team secured another silver medal, while Judo added a bronze to the growing tally.

FCT’s medal count spans across several disciplines, underlining the team’s balanced strength and preparation. Below is a breakdown of the medal distribution so far: Gold Medals (13 Total): Karate – 5, Golf – 2, Wrestling – 2, Ayoo – 2 and Scrabble – 2

Silver Medals (8 Total): Golf – 4, Karate – 1, Weightlifting – 1, Wushu Kungfu – 1, Gymnastics (Power Tumbling) – 1

Bronze Medals (14 Total): Weightlifting – 2, Taekwondo – 2, Powerlifting – 1, Golf – 1, Wushu Kungfu – 1, Athletics – 1, Scrabble – 1, Badminton – 1, Karate – 2, Judo – 1, Gymnastics (Power Tumbling) – 1.

With each passing day, Team FCT remains determined to increase its medal tally and finish among the best rated States in a competition that continues to showcase Nigeria’s athletic potential and unity through sports.
