Olumide Oyedeji Basketball Camp Begins August 26

The 2024 edition of the Olumide Oyedeji Basketball Camp will dunk-off on Monday, August 26 at the Indoor Sports Hall National Stadium Surulere, Lagos, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The weeklong camp which will end on Saturday, August 31st and it is open to kids from 4 years to 17 years with scholarships on offer for outstanding talents.

The organiser of the foundation said top coaches from across Nigeria have indicated their attendance at the weeklong event which daily activities hold from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Although, a basketball camp, resource persons will also be around to talk to campers about career choices and equip them with life skills.

Olumide Oyedeji- founder of the initiative said the basketball camp had produced stars such as Charles Bassey playing for San Antonio Spurs (NBA), D'Tigress' Elizabeth Balogun, Joshua Ojianwuna with Baylor University, Reuben Chinyelu with University of Florida.

Others are; former Nigerian internationals, Rasidat Sadiq, Deji Akindele, and Michael Eric, the opportunity is open to kids from across Nigeria.

Over 40,000 had participated in the camp for the past 24 years. Cities that had hosted the Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation camp in Nigeria include; Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Osogbo, Lokoja, Lafia, Kano, Ado Ekiti, while Senegal, Liberia, Ethiopia, China, South Korea are other countries aside Nigeria that have hosted.

“We are excited to have another unique opportunity to impact kids through the camp. The former D'Tigers captain, Olumide Oyedeji said.

He aded, "The importance of this camp cannot be over-emphasized. We are glad about what we have achieved and the quality of talents that have passed through us”.

“The camp is not just about basketball. We also invite resource persons to talk to the kids about life and career choices in case basketball does not work out. He concluded.
