2025/26 NPFL:Kano Government Approves Barau FC To Use Sani Abacha Stadium

The Kano State Government has approved Barau Football Club to use the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, as the club’s temporary home ground for the upcoming 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to the Club’s Media Director, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, the approval was reached following a closed-door meeting between representatives of the Kano State Sports Commission and the Barau FC management.
Barau FC’s original home ground, the Dambatta Stadium in Kano North, is currently undergoing renovations ahead of the new campaign.
Speaking on Tuesday, the Chairman of Barau FC, Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, confirmed that the Kano State Sports Commission has granted approval for the club to use the Sani Abacha Stadium throughout the season.
“First of all, I would like to thank the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf, for granting us approval to play our matches at the Sani Abacha Stadium'
"The Sports Commission has also played a vital role by listening to the concerns of our people and approving our request,” Chanji stated.
He further commended the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for his support and contributions.
Chanji also called on the people of Kano State to be good ambassadors and conduct themselves responsibly whenever they attend Barau FC’s matches this season.
Barau FC will host Enyimba FC in their NPFL opening fixture on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.
