2025 AFCON: Morocco FA Commences Negotiations With NFF For Friendly Game

In preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place on home soil, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), led by its president Fouzi Lekjaa, has begun mapping out a robust build-up programme for the Atlas Lions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Updates from Rabat indicate that the Moroccan FA has opened talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to organise a doubleheader friendly against the Super Eagles as part of their pre-AFCON schedule.

Morocco, keen on testing their squad against top African opposition, is also in discussions with Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Zimbabwe for other warm-up matches.

The proposed friendlies are expected to hold in November, giving coach Walid Regragui a chance to fine-tune his tactics and assess his team’s readiness ahead of the continental showpiece.

Morocco will face Comoros on 21st December to kick off the 35th edition of the  CAF AFCON.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, the eventual champions will pocket a staggering $3.5m, an increase of 75 per cent from the $2m awarded to the winners of the last edition.

The runner-up will receive $1.2m, while the third and fourth-place teams will walk away with $700,000 and $600,000, respectively.

Each of the four losing quarter-finalists will earn $450,000, while teams that finish third or fourth in their respective groups will receive either $300,000 or $200,000, depending on their group format.
