2025 AFCON Qualifier: Eguavoen Explains Reason Why Ola Aina Returned To England

The interim coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles, Austin Eguavoen, has explained the reason defender Ola Aina was allowed to return to England, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite playing so well against Benin, the utility defender was allowed to return to his club in England.

Eguavoen told the Making of Champ that Aina was released after Nottingham Forest Boss Nuno Espirito Santo appealed for his release.

"Nuno (Espirito, Nottingham Forrest coach) called me, and he wanted Ola to return since we had already qualified. I sanctioned it (Aina's return). It's part of the relationships we are building with club sides."
