2025 Afrobasket: Okogie Joins D’Tigers Camp
Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria’s D’Tigers camp came alive on Wednesday with the arrival of Josh Okogie, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Under the guidance of coach Muhammad Abdelrahman, the team began preparations earlier this week for the 2025 Afrobasket Championship.
The Nigeria Basketball Federation had last week unveiled a provisional roster, with all invited players immediately contacted.
As of Tuesday, only nine players were in camp in Abuja, but the atmosphere lifted significantly with the arrival of point guard Okogie on Wednesday.
The Houston Rockets guard is returning to national duty for the first time since the 2023 FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers, where he delivered outstanding performances.
Okogie, a well-established name in the NBA, has previously played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and Charlotte Hornets.
He is expected to inject intensity and experience into the squad as the tournament approaches.
The 2025 Afrobasket will take place from August 12 to 24 in Angola, with Nigeria set to face Tunisia in their opening group game.
