2025 Afrobasket Championship: We Achieved Our Goal In Libya – D’Tigers Captain

Nigeria’s D’Tigers captain, Ike Nwamu, has expressed his satisfaction after the team successfully secured their spot at the 2025 Afrobasket Championship in Libya, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Following a shaky start in the first window of the qualifiers, the seven-time African champions bounced back impressively to book their place in the tournament.

“I think before we came here, everyone had one goal in mind. When everyone shares the same goal, there’s more energy and focus towards achieving it," Nwamu stated.

“And I believe that after the third quarter against Uganda, we truly found our rhythm, which allowed us to accomplish something special.”

For Nwamu, qualification was more than just securing a spot—it was about reaffirming Nigeria’s dominance in African basketball.

 “The motivation was to qualify and reach the level we belong to. Since I’ve been with the national team, we’ve always been at the top of African basketball,” he added.
