2025 FIFA World Cup: Flamingos Hit Five, Extend Unbeaten Run to Eight Games

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, continued their impressive build-up to the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a dominant 5–0 victory over Horvel Prime in a friendly match played on Sunday at the training pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Forward Queen Joseph was the standout performer, netting a first-half hat-trick with goals in the 4th, 31st, and 35th minutes. Shakirat Moshood and Azeezat Oduntan also got on the scoresheet to complete the rout.
The Flamingos have now recorded eight wins in eight friendly matches ahead of the global tournament, scoring 27 goals and keeping a perfect defensive record with eight clean sheets.
Nigeria is drawn in Group B of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, set to kick off on October 17 in Morocco. The hosts will face Brazil in the tournament’s opening fixture.
The Flamingos will begin their campaign against Canada on October 19, followed by matches against France on October 22 and Samoa on October 25.
The Round of 16 is scheduled to begin on October 28, with the quarterfinals set for November 1. The semifinals and final will take place on November 5 and 8, respectively.
With a perfect pre-tournament record, the Flamingos appear poised for a strong showing on the world stage.
