Sporting Lagos secured their second consecutive victory in the 13th edition of the Gold Cup pre-season tournament, edging past FC Ebedei 2-1 on MatchDay 2.

The Lagos-based team took the lead in the 13th minute when Jacob Aondona leapt above his defenders to head the ball in from a corner kick. FC Ebedei had a chance to equalize shortly after, but Olanshile Lawal missed a golden opportunity while unmarked in the Sporting Lagos box.

The equalizer came in the 27th minute, as Miracle Osakeni found the back of the net with an assist from Fanen Terkula. The score remained level at halftime, prompting the referee to send both teams to the changing rooms.

As the second half began, both teams had opportunities to score, but Clinton Lawani’s impressive goalkeeping kept the Oliseh Boys from taking the lead. However, Sporting Lagos capitalized on a defensive error in the 83rd minute when Alex Leme scored their second goal, putting them ahead 2-1.
