The 2025 edition of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3 Nations Cup will remain marked by the dominance of the Anglophones. In the women's competition, Nigeria took gold and bronze, leaving silver to Ghana. In the men's competition, Ghana took the crown, while Benin had to settle for silver and Ghana again took bronze.

In the men's final, Ghana's experience made the difference. Benin's Yacoubou/Tohouegnon put up a strong fight, but Ghana's Ibrahim/Akan were more solid in key moments, winning 0–2 (19–21, 17–21) in 39 minutes.

The women's final featured two pairs with similar styles, combining experience and expertise. Esther M/Pamela B of Nigeria and Mawuse/J. Aryee of Ghana played each other out with a set each, before the Nigerian duo won a 2-1 tiebreak (21-23, 21-16, 15-9) in 55 minutes. Nigeria thus secured a double victory, winning bronze and gold, confirming its status as a regional powerhouse.

Women's semi-finals: Nigerian supremacy and Ghanaian duel

Nigeria and Ghana took the lead in the women's draw. In the semifinals, Faustina/Joy lost to Esther M/Pamela B in straight sets, 0–2 (18–21, 23–25), after 49 minutes of close competition. In the other match, Ghana found itself facing itself: Joana/Grace lost to Mawuse/J. Aryee 0–2 (14–21, 16–21) in 34 minutes.

The third-place match offered a thrilling scenario. Faustina/Joy and Joana/Grace engaged in a suspenseful duel, which ended in three sets. The Nigerians ultimately won 2–1 (17–21, 23–21, 20–18) after 1 hour and 11 minutes of intense play.

Men's semi-finals: Ghana and Benin impose their law

In the men's competition, the semi-finals pitted four determined nations against each other. Niger, represented by Seini Ali/Abdoulaye, held firm but eventually lost to the Beninese pair Yacoubou/Tohouegnon in two sets 0–2 (16–21, 15–21) in 33 minutes. Ghana, for its part, was imperious: Tsatsu/Philip were swept aside by Ibrahim/Akan with a score of 0–2 (10–21, 13–21) in 30 minutes.

The classification match saw Niger and Ghana face off for third place. After winning the first set 21–18, Seini Ali/Abdoulaye [8] were caught and then overtaken by Tsatsu/Philip [10], who won 1–2 (21–18, 16–21, 11–15) in 51 minutes.

From August 26th to 29th, Agora Anani Beach in Port-Bouët, Ivory Coast, vibrated to the rhythm of beach volleyball. Seven of the eight countries were present, with sixteen male and twelve female pairs, a record participation for the competition. This logistical challenge was successfully met by the organizers, offering the public a high-level show in which the English-speaking nations confirmed their dominance.

This tournament, rich in intensity and twists and turns, confirms the rise of beach volleyball in West Africa and opens up promising prospects for the rest of the international season.
