2025 U-20 AFCON: Nigeria Set to Face DR Congo, Senegal, or Ghana in Quarterfinal Clash

By Niyi Busari

Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, will face the top team from Group C—either DR Congo, Ghana, or defending champions Senegal—in the quarterfinals of the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Group C remains finely poised heading into the final round of matches. DR Congo and Ghana currently lead the group with four points each, while Senegal and the Central African Republic trail with one point apiece. The final fixtures will see Senegal take on DR Congo, and Ghana face the Central African Republic.

On Thursday, Senegal faces a must-win situation to remain in the tournament; anything less would eliminate the defending champions. Ghana, on the other hand, requires only a draw to secure progression. With Nigeria finishing second in Group B, they are set to meet the Group C leaders in the knockout round—a position most likely to be claimed by either DR Congo or Ghana, although a Senegalese victory could still alter the standings.

The quarter-final battle will hold next Monday, 12th May 2025 at 1:00pm (Nigeria time) at Ismaila.
