2025 World Athletics Championships: Amusan Matches Brume, Okagbare’s Record, Earns $55k

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has equaled the World Championships medal haul of compatriots Blessing Okagbare and Ese Brume after clinching silver in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Monday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The world record holder breezed through her heats and raised the tempo in the semifinals, clocking an impressive 12.36 seconds the fastest time heading into the final.

She topped a stacked lineup featuring Grace Stark (12.37s), Olympic champion Masai Russell (12.42s), defending champion Danielle Williams (12.44s), and Ditaji Kambundji (12.44s).

By winning silver, Amusan joined Okagbare and Brume as the only Nigerians to secure multiple medals at the World Championships.

The 28-year-old will also pocket a combined $55,000 for her efforts: $25,000 from World Athletics for finishing second, plus $30,000 in bonuses from Nigerian kit sponsor Hiracer.
